Counseling Services
Many community organizations offer free or low-cost short-term counseling (usually about 5 sessions), and this can be a great starting point for raising some of your biggest concerns, fears, or questions, whether they’re about being GLBTT* or about your overall health. Sometimes short-term counseling is called “crisis counseling,” but that does not mean it’s only for people who are suicidal or in extreme situations. Essentially, crisis counseling is to help you if you’re feeling stuck on an issue or concern that could benefit from an outside perspective. If the place or person you turn to for help is not the best match for your needs, you will either be referred to or can ask for other suggestions and options.
The following is a list of Winnipeg and Manitoba health resources. All these places provide low cost or no cost professional counseling. (From SPEAK http://www.speak-out.ca/need_help.htm)
